TEDxStanford
May 11, 2013 signaled the second annual TEDxStanford day, created by TED in the spirit of ideas worth spreading. TEDxStanford is hosted by the Stanford Office of Public Affairs and is an independently organized TED event featuring Ted Talks videos and live speakers.
TEDxStanford is an annual day-long event filled with music and dancing alongside a broad range of intellectual and innovative discussions including the psychology of compassion, studies of wildlife in the sea and on land, and recent breakthroughs in energy design among many other featured topics of interest.
2012 marked the first TEDxStanford event, drawing together students, alumni, faculty, innovators, academics, poets, musicians, and more. Because the event was so wildly popular with over 600 attendees and 27 performers and presenters, the 2013 event reached an even greater capacity and wider popularity. Meant to be both inspiring and fun, 2013’s TEDxStanford event featured alumni speakers such as Shirzad Camine, MBA ’88 and Zipho Sikhakhane, MBA ’14. Shirzad Camine is extremely well known and notable for his New York Times bestselling book Positive Intelligence. Camine has coached hundreds of CEOs and executive teams on how to contribute their maximum potential through positive intelligence. Additionally, TEDxStanford 2013 included a day full of entertaining performers such as Stanford’s graduate design student Andrew Evans who will be performing magic tricks, and performance artist and CEO of Denae Dance Theatre, Denae Hannah. Nearly all contributors, speakers and performers have intimate ties to Stanford, thus making TEDxStanford a day of thought from the Stanford community.
